Meet Mr. Christopher Elsesser

New Mount Sinai Middle School Principal

Chris Elsesser, a proud alumnus of Mount Sinai High School’s Class of 2002, returns to lead Mount Sinai Middle School with a unique perspective and deep connection to the community as our new Principal beginning July 1, 2024!  Having walked the halls of each of our District’s three buildings as a student, Mr. Elsesser embodies the values and tradition of the District and considers himself to be an example of “The Best of Learning and Living.”

Mr. Elsesser returns to Mount Sinai with 16 years of experience in education, which includes 9 years working as a high school business education teacher in the Smithtown and Harrison school districts.  Since 2017, Mr. Elsesser has worked in a leadership capacity in both the Oyster Bay-East Norwich and Smithtown school districts. Currently, Mr. Elsesser serves as a high school assistant principal at Smithtown High School West.

Mr. Elsesser aspires to lead a school community where each student has the opportunity to enjoy a positive, engaging and inclusive middle school experience.  He is dedicated to fostering a student-centered organizational culture that prioritizes relationships and communication with all students, families and community stakeholder groups.  By combining his professional knowledge with his personal experiences as an alumnus, Mr. Elsesser envisions a future where every student at Mount Sinai Middle School receives a quality education, feels empowered to #LiveTheDream, and embraces the special nature of living and celebrating #MustangPride.

Mr. Elsesser graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing/Management and a Business Education Certificate from Siena College.  He earned his Master of Business Administration Degree with a concentration in Management from Fairfield University.  Additionally, he holds Advanced Graduate Certificates in School Building and School District Leadership from Dowling College.

Mr. Elsesser lives on the South Shore with his wife, his two boys, and their Chocolate Labrador Retriever, Maui.  When he is not in school, he enjoys spending time with his family, boating on Long Island waters, volunteering his time to his community and coaching his boys in both soccer and baseball.  Mr. Elsesser also serves his alma mater, Siena College, as a member of their Board of Advisors.
