Our District
The Mount Sinai School District has a current population estimated
at 11,000 with a student population of 2,600. We are located on
the north shore of Long Island, approximately 65 miles east of New
York City. The District covers an area of approximately six square
miles.
Largely suburban-rural in character, the District contains Mount
Sinai Harbor with its facilities for boating and fishing. Several
Brookhaven township beaches are nearby, including Cedar Beach with
extensive frontage on Long Island Sound.
With the opening of Mount Sinai High School in September 1991, the
District, with its three buildings, became totally self-contained
on a campus-like 65 acre setting with an educational program that
is second to none and facilities that are technologically state of
the art and designed to prepare all students to meet the
challenges of the future.
